Compliments for Philip
Philip, Just wanted you to know that ZomeMinder is impressing people left, right and centre here at the University of Calgary. I recently deployed it in a secure computing facility here; yesterday we had an alarm go off in the lab, campus security came, and in no time I was able to bring up and show ...

Apache / Mysql hanging
Hi All, When going to peruse a monitor's events (clicking on the number in the 'events' column), I never get a page - but apparently only when there is over a certain number of events. For instance, ther were 2 events in the hour column, and I was able to bring up that page and clear the events ...

Re: 'zmc -d 1' crashed
Woo, forgot to write back that all was well - It turns out that the LANG variable, set in /etc/sysconfig/i18n (RedHat 9) was set to "en_CA.UTF-8" or some such. setting this to "C" was all it needed, and now I'm off to the races! CPAN worked like a charm after that. I'm loving ZoneMinder - So does ...

Hi,
Depending on what Disto/release you're running, you'll need to install (in the case of RedHat 9) the php-mysql package. (Currently 4.2.2-17.2)
Hope this helps,
Erik.

Re: 'zmc -d 1' crashed
Well, I'm an airhead... I haven't got Zip.pm - and What's currently on CPAN (1.0.6) won't compile on my machine. So I'm going insane.
Any perl experts out there?

Re: 'zmc -d 1' crashed
I'm in the same situation. REdHat 9, with two Logitech quickcam pro 4000's. 'zmu -d 0 -q -v' detects all, but 'zmc --device 0' segfaults. zmwatch.log contains a bunch of: Can't get shared memory id: No such file or directory and: Watchdog starting at 03/08/27 19:58:14 Watchdog pausing for 30 seconds ...

Re: Starting ZM on RH9
/me shakes his head
You'd think that for all the poking around I did that I'd check to see that the place I specified for the logs was actually writable by the apache user. I had it group-writable, but that didn't suffice. I changed it to /tmp and am done with it.
Onwards and upwards.

Starting ZM on RH9
Hi All, I saw a blurb elsewhere about trying to start the server/console via the web and nothing happening. for me, running as the apache user, I get the following: -- snip, snip -- bash-2.05b$ /usr/local/bin/zmdc.pl start zmwatch.pl Unable to connect, starting server Can't open log file: Permission ...

Re: Zone Minder service start error
I hit the same problem - Seeing Philip's post I poked around in the db and sure enough there wasn't anything there - I did run 'perl ./zmconfig.pl' previously though - zmconfig.txt existed - It may be of note that I hit 'x' to use the defaults once the core options were set. Anyhow, running 'perl ...
