conor, I can get 25 fps but the motion is jerky, especially when viewed in slow motion. It's more puzzling than annoying. Here's the dmesg output. thanks, J bttv: driver version 0.9.16 loaded bttv: using 16 buffers with 2080k (520 pages) each for capture bttv: Bt8xx card found (0). ACPI: PCI Interru...

This card is working with conors settings and the error messages have gone. Although I'm still having problems at capture rates higher than 4fps. Basically if an object like a car is captured it moves unevenly when played back. This is especially evident when using slow playback or frame by frame as...

You're running Suse aren't you? I've just got the same error on a clean install. It seems to be caused by the zm folder being owned by root. To fix, run the following as root. cd /srv/www/htdocs chown wwwrun zm chgrp www zm *update* Sorry about this, must have changed more than one thing at once :( ...

Pictures
Hi Conor, Thanks for the detailed advice in your replies, I'll have a go with them and let you know how it goes. Now as for the pictures, I messed about with my digital camera for a while but with poor results. As a last resort, I sat the thing on my Canon scanner and - to my surprise - got the an a...

It's definately not a motherboard problem as the system dual boots into XP as well as FC3 and the Windows software that comes with it works ok on the XP partition. I would re-iterate that it works fine with the card=77 option in my first post except that I had problems over 4fps. Oh yes, my motherbo...

206M
For the 206M it's 1280 x 1024 according to a sample snap I have from a demo site which unfortunately doesn't seem to be up at the moment. Crazy resolution! James as you point out PAL cameras interlace above quarter resolution which makes captured stills look really annoying. You're probably best goi...

Re: better quality captures?
Is there a way to determine what "rez's" my camera and card with support? Yes, I've ordered This guys book which comes with a CCTV test chart that you can read the horizontal and vertical resolution from directly. Unfortunately it hasn't arrived yet so I can't tell you if it works but the...

Sorry guys, I may have spoke too soon. When I try to capture more than about 4 frames per second, the captured frames seem to produce a jumpy motion as though they were captured at inconsistant times. I know from the frame display in Zoneminder that they were captured at even intervals but the motio...

I use outdoor cameras with built in IR illumination myself and theywork well . The only problem with them is that rain and flies passing close to the lens appear as bright streaks which can trigger events. For your garage, you might consider having a standard halogen security light fitted a few feet...

Hi mbill, Not sure if you're tallking about your display card or a capture card? On the display side, as long as the card can display your desktop at a decent resolution and in plenty of colours it will do. Since Zoneminder is browser based there are no requirements for hardware acceleration. On the...

Another eBay special, an 8 chip board for around the 89GBP mark. Supplied with the ususal half-working windows software! I've managed to find the manufacturers (v. slow) website with a good picture of it. Note the yellow connector at the end. There are others listed on eBay without this. http://www....
