when you ran configure, did you see any warning that it could not find libcripto. If so you will need to install openssl and it's depends. Teddy,

The sock file must always be readable/writeable by the webserver user.
It is strange that it was owned by root. You probably made a mistake during the configuration of the zoneminder. (apache user/apache group)

Can't you just use the JPEG iso MPEG.

that will solve your problem, but I don't know if you want that.

btw, also check your ZM_URL and ZM_PATH_ZMS

Adding the -v option has the same results.....nothing is returned from the command line..
zmc is still crashing with error code 255.......and still no images captured. :(
