Thanks for this. I have just followed it (except I did not use --with-ffmpeg not --enable-mmap) and in the end everything works, including zmupdate.pl, I just needed the correct username and password. I also needed to edit /etc/apache2/vhosts.d/default_vhost.include to change localhost to zoneminder ...

Bigger stills needed
Is there any way to make the images on the stills overview page bigger and have more on the page.
Some times it is quicker to scan the stills by eye when you have may events then it is to look at the stream.

Does zoneminder 1.24.2 need perl-5.10
I thought I might upgrade to the latest zoneminder, particularly since gentoo has the latest version as an ebuild. However I get the following error message emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "~dev-lang/perl-5.10.1" I have 5.8.8 installed. So I want to know if perl 5.10.1 is really needed ...

Stats and zone setup
Do the headings in the event stats view correspond to the settings in the zone. I was going to use this to help reduce nuisance alarms.

Zoneminder hangs - no responce from the browser
This not necessarily a zoneminder problem but when I am viewing events the event will stop and the browser window will have the message about transfering data from etc. Most of the time it will start again after a wait of up to a couple of minutes. Occasionally (like now) it will not recover and I ...

Thanks for the reply. I run Zoneminder on Gentoo which has a predefined ebuild script for the compile. Since I do not change the standard I do not think the problem happened at compile time. In fact the achives were there as I was trying to stream the events but it failed. They disappeared when I ...

The archive has been empty!!
I have just upgraded to 1.23.3 from 1.23.1 using the ebuild on gentoo. Everything went well except I could not stream the events. Looking at the forum someone had got round it by copying zms and nph-zms from /var/www/zoneminder/cgi-bin to /var/www/localhost/cgi-bin. Not wanting to do this straight ...
