Re: Dumb question How does ONVIF scanning work?
From what i was looking at in the code its pretty basic scanning an ip range but i think the issue it only scans directly connected subnets and dosetn't have an ability top specify a subnet to scan. Because scanning a 172.1.10/30 has no point.

Dumb question How does ONVIF scanning work?
My question is basically how, does it determine what to scan ? does it just subnets that its directly connect to? Or is it some multicast thing. I ask because I am useing ZM in a docker with a 172.16.1.0/30 that has specific ports forwarded. As its stands now i haven't got onvif cameras scan to work ...

Re: Looking for a new camera
I have had decent luck with the cheap chines ip camers on aliexpress. The search term you want is "ONVIF IP camera" so far i haven't got one that wont auto config in zm with the onvif option. The wired one can get super cheap sub $10. I haven't tried any ptz ones though so your mileage may very ...

Re: New hardware for 90 ip cameras
You didn't ask but, these cheap onvif units work really well for converting analog cameras. IF your converting a lot it might be worth a look. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/CCTV-Mini-DVR-4-Channel-AHDM-DVR-8Ch-Hybrid-DVR-1080P-NVR-3-in-1-Video/32334774679.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.a1a74c4dTYNN73 ...

Re: RTSP Purple Stream
I would go start checking for layer one issues aka bad/overloaded cables or switches. Your likely getting packet loss some ware along the line. Remember udp has NO error checking so this can happen with a bad link. Also make sure you don't have some device in your connection acting as a hub check ...

Re: ZoneMinder Deletes 120GB+ (All?) Events With Little Provocation: Logs Inaccessable
Yeah, as someone who worked in a data center i can say even Raid ssds constantly needed changing out on heavy db server because a write endurance issues. And even this its high recommended to have a secondary server for uptime reasons its not uncommon to lose 2 ssds at the same time. Some older ones ...

Re: Just installed ZM, cams detected but all I see is a broken tiny icon where the image should be
Ubuntu by chance? I just had this same issue. if you right click on the broken image and view it. you should get something like this http://10.0.0.206/zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms?... or do you get something like http://10.0.0.206/cgi-bin/nph-zms If its the latter go to Options --> Paths --> path_ZMS and ...

Re: Thinking about ways to improve my security system...
From wikipedia. The original IEEE 802.3af-2003[2] PoE standard provides up to 15.4 W of DC power (minimum 44 V DC and 350 mA[3][4]) on each port.[5] Only 12.95 W is assured to be available at the powered device as some power dissipates in the cable.[6] The updated IEEE 802.3at-2009[7] PoE standard ...

IN general you have to figure out what bttv card you have thanks to many mfg skiping putting an eprom on the card to identify the pin mapping. http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Bttv_devices_%28bt848,_bt878%29 YOu might see if its just a clone of this one http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/File ...

SO you made the same mistake i did and updated the firmware.:( ITs newer authentication system that the current releases of zm is not compatible with. IT requires the reciver to reply with a hashed login based on the salt(kinda like and encryption key) it send when it fails. It prevents people from ...

Re: Annoying camera auth feature. TV-IP751WC
I think its the updated firmware but this one wont let you turn auto off anymore. and the image path is different /mjpeg.cgi now now no /video/ Anyways i did some poking around in git hub looks like they just added the digest auth into zm a few weeks ago. So might try compiling the current git copy ...
