any answer on this?
Is 5 or 6 fps per channel for 4 channels ambitious or comfortable on a 1.2ghz mini itx board if the capture card had 4 chips on it?

from recent browsing
the stuff coming out of china and taiwan is pretty reasonably priced these days, both in terms of 4 port video servers and capture cards, especially with volume discounts.

yes, definitely!
To my mind, the easiest way to get Zoneminder to spread even faster than it has already would be to make it easily scalable. For every additional 4 cameras in a system, just add a mini itx box with capture card and 4 cameras recording at 5fps on each camera. Add to this, define the length of each ...

if it's not being developed yet...
...why not skip mpe4 and go straight for h.264? It's bitrate is 40% less than mpeg4 at the same resolution and framerate.
