Re: PV-981 - 16,Ubuntu 11.04 Server - 8 of 16 Channels Work.
In your monitor entry you will need the device path to be something like "/dev/video0", but also you will need to set the channel. In my case I have and 8 chip card with 16 cameras and I'm using /dev/video0 for two devices, channels 0 and 1. In the Options > Config. I had to uncheck V4L_MULTI_BUFFER ...

TP-Link TL-SC3171?
I see the Wiki entry for the TP-Link TL-SC3171 ( link ), but has anyone used them enough to develop an opinion of them for easy of use, quality, IR, and anything else? I'm looking at adding some inexpensive IP cameras to our analog camera coverage for better images, but I can't find a lot of info ...

Re: Current recomendations for a PoE IP camera?
I ran across the TP-Link TL-SC3171 which has 3 of my 4 requirements: IR, VGA, and cheap. As for PoE I'll use some splitters, TP-Link also has TL-POE200 . The camera is on the HCL and seems to work well enough. The IR is only 10m, but that should more than adequate for indoor use to identify people ...

Re: Chinese IP CAMERAS
TENVIS EasyN Apexis These are the main producers of cameras provided by ebay. I would like to see on the forum are the Chinese manufacturers of these cameras work with zoneminder. Are any of these known to work? Tenvis, for instance, seems to have several cameras that would work for me, but ...

Re: Current recomendations for a PoE IP camera?
I'll need a couple with IR probably. I haven't seen the final layout yet, but unless there is a light on 24/7 I'll need something inside the pharmacy entrances as well as areas with locked up controlled substances.
The rest of the cameras can be like you say, inexpensive but good.

Current recomendations for a PoE IP camera?
I'm going to be installing 10-15 wired PoE IP cameras inside a couple of pharmacies. Since there are drugs being handled the resolution needs to be better than my 320x240 analog cameras, thus IP. Will 640x480 be enough? I'm planning for 20-25ft distances in most cases, often less. I don't need to ...

Questions, Concerns, and Documentation?
I've got some questions regarding the upgrade process from 1.24.x: - Has anyone documented the upgrade process from 1.24.x to 1.25.0? - Is there a downside to upgrading? - Will 1.24.2 upgrade to 1.25.0 cleanly? - Will 1.25.0 retain the settings and data from 1.24.x? - Are the hardware requirements ...

Re: Looking for hidden ip camera that works with zoneminder
http://www.amazon.com/Q-SEE-QSMCC-Ultra-Color-Camera/dp/B0002340M4 You mentioned IP cameras as well as BNC. I've used these and they work well, but they are BNC rather than IP. I just drilled a small hole in the drop ceilings and shaved the tile a bit to get the camera at the correct angle and then ...

Re: Big system, 24-48 IP cams, Hardware Suggestions please
Nice, I have never seen that wiki entry. I'll have to see if this works with my old ancient Axis. That is if I can get it to show up on a freaking IP address and keep it.

Re: Big system, 24-48 IP cams, Hardware Suggestions please
Good idea on the test camera. I'll do that with with one of my existing systems to see how the load increases versus the existing analog cameras. Currently a Core2 Q8400 handles the load of 16 analog cameras at 2.5fps quite easily even at modect recording at night. I'll have to look into the cameras ...

Big system, 24-48 IP cams, Hardware Suggestions please
The company I am working for is remodeling and consolidating our other locations in town into a single full service one stop shop. I'll been needing regulatory guidelines from our accreditation company, but I am expecting somewhere between 24 and 48 cameras. We have 32 in play now, but the floorplan ...

Ive never tried ipv6 addressing but it should work in url mode as a minimum. Im currently working on V3 zm4ms, and this will have better framerate, and if i can get it self healing flash/mpeg streaming. Over the next couple of weeks i will release a public alpha of a pure low bandwidth viewer. If ...
