So, where do you work that you get to play with ZM for money?

Instant message / personal message me through the forum.

Thanks.

Al-gore-rhythm...

It seems like this would be in the algorithm used to create and populate new directories. Currently, it looks something like this on my install: /usr/share/zoneminder/data/2/003/capture-0001.jpg where /2/ is the monitor number, /003/ the event number, and then capture-0001.jpg is the frame captured ...

ffmpeg?

Have you looked at ffmpeg (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffmpeg/)? With knowledge of how the end image files are named via naming conventions, you should be able to access all of them or sets of them at a time and have ffmpeg take the stills and make a movie or set of movies from them. Having a ...

While CAT-5 is being pulled, you may want to pull 2 runs to each room if you are doing it yourself. It can't hurt too much to have extra wire available...

Redundancy, fault tolerance, redundancy, etc...

You may want to look at separating parts of the system so that the entire 36 camera setup is not subject to the failure of a single NIC, etc. Looking at the way ZM leverages the standard LAMP platform (Linux OS, Apache webserver, mySql database, Perl/PHP scripting languages), there does not appear ...

My system...

I built a machine around the Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 (Conroe 1.86GHz) It has 4MB of L2 cache... with 2GB of RAM, I have had no lag or challenges with the system to date running 2 cameras @ 640x480x24 bit color. I just ordered 3 more cameras (bluecherry's Topica TP-550TVL-DN) and am using their PV-183 ...

I'll take that bet! I have 2GB memory in the machine... using the example numbers in the wiki only sets shared memory at 134217728b, or 128kb (128*1024*1024.) Setting it higher, say at 1GB or 1073741824b (1024^3) and things get nicer for large pictures and color. Additionally, I set the max frame ...

Need more details to help...

I think that more detail we have on what you are trying to accomplish, the more as a group we can help. If the two locations are diverse, then maybe 3 smallish servers could work: two baby servers (just enough to capture 2 cameras x 5fps at each site) and an "aggregation" server centrally located ...

PV-183 at 640x480x24 bit color...?

I just got a PV-183 (8v+8a, 240fps) card from bluecherry, with two of the Topica TP-550TVL-DN cameras for testing a system that I will ship in the next 2 weeks. I can make the following happen: 640x480x8 bit B/W 320x240x24 bit color I believe that this card can do 640x480x24 bit color, at a rate ...

For our viewers...

I decided on the PV-183. I should be getting it and 2 cameras in the post this evening, and doing the configuration / testing this evening.

I will start a separate thread / post stream with results, including (hopefully!) test images!

Woohoo!

From their FAQ : http://linux.bytesex.org/xawtv/faq3.html Q: xawtv doesn't show anything xawtv supports a wide range of hardware. Chances are good that xawtv simply tries to talk to another device than you expect. That is a common problem with nvidia cards which have a video port (for nvidia's ...

I am building a system for Northern NY (near Canada!) and have just purchased two of these for proof-of-concept: http://store.bluecherry.net/Outdoor_Aluminum_Enclosure_Heater_Blower_p/fullsizeenclosure_hb.htm The downside in your situation is that they need 24v (need lots of juice to make heat.) Time / Date Stamp?

Is there a Time/Date stamp on the ticket? Assuming that the trucks are not moving in and out *too* fast, as long as the time/date stamps match up to the same minute / 3 minute interval, etc., then you can be relatively sure that the truck captured and the ticket printed refer to the same weighing ...
