OK, I found that this seems to be a v4l v4l2 problem (like mentioned in previous messages) with the new kernels and BTTV cards. I haven't found a fix so far.

(update)This is another mention of the problem.

I have the same problem with my Kworld BTTV card. It seems to have the wrong card number and type settings. Although it works with TVtime like it should. My other Winfast 2000XP card works fine with ZM 1.23.3. I am using Fedora 9 - Kernel 2.6.25.3-18.fc9.x86_64. Is there a way to change the capture ...

I had these make problems also with the Fedora 8 ffmpeg rpm installed. I had to remove the ffmpeg RPM, then install the SVN ffmpeg. No problems after that.

Well thanks for the advice. I've done Zoneminder source installs many times before on Redhat and Fedora. I might wait for the RPM though, to save me some possible troubles. Unless I just get bored and want something to do. :) I might regret that!

Hi cordel!

Since I already have the 1.22.x x86_64 RPM installed, should I remove that and then just install 1.23 from source? Also if I do the source install, should I remove the current mysql zm database or can I leave it?

OK thanks, I guess I'll have to wait for the RPM for x86_64 Fedora 8 then.

Where can I get the RPM? Yum doesn't locate it with Fedora 8. I am using the x86_64 bit Fedora 8, so maybe that is why?

I recently did an install of ZoneMinder on FC7, and everything went smoothly. A couple of things that helped, I first ran yum and got all the updates before I started. Then add this to your /etc/yum.respos.d directory, Call it freshrpms.repo: Now you can do a "yum install ffmpeg" and it w...

Re: Ferdora Hangs due to Shared Memory

One thing that hung me was the shared memory settings. It hooped me with hangs that I couldn't get logs for months Check the Wiki FAQ for shared memory http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ#What_does_a_.27Can.27t_shmget:_Invalid_argument.27_error_in_my_logs_mean.3F and this post. http://www....

Sorry I took so long to write back but I thought we should finish this thread since it is in the wiki. Although ZM is working now I don't know what fixed it except Fedora 7 yum updates. Which update that fixed it -- I don't know? This is why I didn't respond back to this thread long ago. Anyway my m...

Heck, I might even be able to handle that! :) I might reinstall Fedora and start from scratch. I think I'll 'make clean' the ZM install I have now and try the yum package before I do an OS reinstall though. Thanks for the link! Hope it works... Update July 11th: I had to reinstall Fedora 7 because I...

Re: Shared Memory issues

A couple of suggestions, search the forums for "shared memory permissions". Check the wiki - FAQ Also take a look at http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9692 for some tips on getting your memory settings correct. There seems to be a difference from what is on the Wiki-FAQ. Af...

Well in that case if I go back to FC6 and do a yum update. I will be back in the same boat I'm in with Fedora 7. It's looks like we are all having the same problems but with different equipment. I am using an Athlon 64 with 2 gb ram on my system, but those memory problems keep showing in my logs. I'...

I noticed that too Vegas, the first time I got one of the cards working. I only got a picture after I switched to PAL then back to NTSC. Now when I start TvTime I don't have to do that. Might be some of the updates I have applied? Maybe this isn't a Zoneminder problem and is a Fedora 7 bug. I don't ...

I've been trying to get it working in F7 x86_64. I don't have any problems configuring or making the install. No Errors! I just can't get the camera's to work in ZM. Both give black screens, one with a slight line at the top of the BTTV camera. I keep getting shared memory errors in some of the log ...
