Flash/SWF generation to view events
Viewing content in flash is great b/c it is such a universally installed plugin and it plays smooth video. I think that YouTube.com is an example of the success of a flash-powered movie viewing website. I setup a zoneminder system a few years ago and I tried to use the Ming software to generate SWF ...

flash filesize
Actually, the flash files generated using this method are approximately equal in size to that of all the single jpeg images that makeup an event. I have not considered storing the events in flash file format. It would make more sense to have ffmpeg generate a .flv file. The .flv file actually uses ...

Actually, the rate feature DOES work. The problem is that the entire flash file has to be downloaded first before it will playback at an accelerated rate. When the file is being streamed over the web, it transfers at a rate that is slower than playback speed. My Zoneminder server can generate SWF ...

OK, I setup ming to view events in flash SWF format. It looks GREAT!! It is faster than using Java (on the client side). It is better looking over the web (IMHO). The flash file will resize or scale for zoom in / zoom out effect. The rate does not work yet. So you cannot speed up or slow down yet ...

using ming to create flash files for viewing events
Instead of using java or mpeg video, I want to try out flash to view streaming video. I installed the php ming module (ming.sf.net). I created a flash video from some archived events, but I had to use my own PHP script to generate the flash file. It looks good. I want to know how to alter the ZM ...

shared memory, socket, or general startup errors
I installed ZM to FC3 for the first time and thought FC3 was causing a problem that made it so ZM could not connect to a socket. The socket is the file /tmp/zmdc.sock With no connection to the socket, ZM could not startup. Since ZM did not startup, shared memory failed to initialize. So what was the ...

OK, it works now. I need perl modules
This works now, which is a real relief. As suggested, I looked at the log file. Specifically, I looked at the /tmp/zmdc.log file. This file had an error that said: Can't locate MIME/Entity.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.3 /usr/lib/perl5 ...

PurgeWhenFull filter is not working
I have the PurgeWhenFull filter setup, but it does not automatically delete events when the disk becomes more than 95% full. My disk just fills to 100% and I have to delete events from the command line. Any suggestions?

The phone is an LG VX4500. I am in the USA, using Verizon Wireless. My web browser software version is 6.2.2.4.145. When I go online, the screen says "openwave" and "RSA BSAFE Enabled". I used the WURFL files. I followed the directions for that. When I log into ZM, I can view still images of the ...

The problem was cookies
I got this problem fixed. As the Zoneminder readme stated, using cookies on cell phones is very buggy, so they have been turned off. I turned them back on. I had to edit the zm.php file. It was pretty simple. There are a bunch of settings that say "cookies = false;". I changed them to say "cookies ...

set toolbar icons on Cambozola
The documentation on the Cambozola website explains that the icons in the toolbar can be turned on/off. These icons are zoom in, zoom out, pan, zoom to full extent, info about stream, and website for Cambozola. This contribution inserts a <param> tag into the HTML code that is passed on to the web ...

mobile phone access is always redirected to login screen
I am trying to access via a mobile phone. I installed wurfl, following the instructions in the readme for Zoneminder (I had to edit the wurfl_classes.php file to point to my "DATA" directory, which was not documented in the readme). From my phone, I get the login screen. I log in and I get a scaled ...

generic 4 port bt878 based card
I brought an old capture card back to life with Zoneminder. The card is a 4 port capture card with one bt878 chip. It is a very generic card. It originally shipped with a computer running win98. It had been a long since it worked. Anyway, setup was pretty simple. Each camera uses a different channel ...
