Just installed zoneminder 1.30.4 on ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS.
At boot time the zoneminder will not start.
From webui the start functionality does not work.
From terminal service zoneminder status returns:
● zoneminder.service - ZoneMinder CCTV recording and surveillance system
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/zoneminder.service; disabled; vendor pres
Active: inactive (dead)
I can not find any errors in /etc/apache2/error.log or in /var/log/zm/zmpkg.log
Running from terminal: "service zoneminder start" starts zoneminder just fine.
How can I make it so that I can start it from the web ui, and hopefully also at boot time?
Starting zoneminder
Re: Starting zoneminder
I have seen this problem before when ZM is installed on some Ubuntu derivatives. If I remember there was a permissions problem causing ZM not to be able to be started from the web GUI or on boot, but would start when directly started from a terminal. Check the permissions/ownerships are correctly set.
Re: Starting zoneminder
What install procedure did you use?
Re: Starting zoneminder
Hi! There was some permission problems with the config file, that one I solved. The others, I can not figure out where could be. Tried many google serarches but most I see is people having issues with database connections. I installed with the apt that was linked to from the download page: https://launchpad.net/~iconnor/+archive ... zoneminder
Thanks for the feedbacks

See the install in the wiki for ubuntu.

If what you are referring to is this one: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Common_Issu ... _on_Ubuntu then I have studied that without finding the solution

It does sound like something went amiss during the install. I would recommend using the instructions above and starting over with a fresh install. I know it sounds pretty crass but......it will save a lot of hassle.
