[SOLVED]no Live View for Foscam C1

Post by no_Legend »

Hello Guys,

i just installed 1.31 on ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
Here i used the easy way to install zoneminder.

Now my problem is that there is no live preview on my mac.
ON osx i tried safari and firefox but both didn't show any live picture ob my fiscal c1.

Does anyone have an idea what i have done wrong or missed to do?

Cheers Robert

The install for 1.31.1 is a bit different than for 1.30.4. The last final step to change PATH_ZMS is not needed. If I remember the Paths is not there anyway.

As for your camera, you need to get the resolution just right in Zoneminder to see an image. We always recommend using VLC and the resolution it reports. You could also try the ONVIF probe or this: https://wiki.zoneminder.com/Foscam_C1

Thx for your answer.
I first installed 1.30.4 there was the same problem like now in 1.31.1
Onvif is enabled and also the resolution is correct like it will shown in vlc.

Is it possible that there is a problem with h264?

Edit:
Look like there is an error message for live watching:

Code: Select all

Socket /var/run/zm/zms-995135s.sock does not exist. This file is created by zms, and since it does not exist, either zms did not run, or zms exited early. Please check your zms logs and ensure that CGI is enabled in apache and check that the PATH_ZMS is set correctly. Make sure that ZM is actually recording. If you are trying to view a live stream and the capture process (zmc) is not running then zms will exit. Please go to http://zoneminder.readthedocs.io/en/latest/faq.html#why-can-t-i-see-streamed-images-when-i-can-see-stills-in-the-zone-window-etc for more information.
Edit2:
sudo a2enmod cgi is done. No live video

Apache Zm.conf look okay for me.

Code: Select all

# Remember to enable cgi mod (i.e. "a2enmod cgi").
ScriptAlias /zm/cgi-bin "/usr/lib/zoneminder/cgi-bin"
<Directory "/usr/lib/zoneminder/cgi-bin">
    Options +ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
    AllowOverride All
    Require all granted
</Directory>

Alias /zm /usr/share/zoneminder/www
<Directory /usr/share/zoneminder/www>
  Options -Indexes +FollowSymLinks
  <IfModule mod_dir.c>
    DirectoryIndex index.php
  </IfModule>
</Directory>

<Directory /usr/share/zoneminder/www/api>
    AllowOverride All
</Directory>
Edit3: After editing this file /etc/zm/conf.d/zmcustoms.conf
From:

Code: Select all

ZM_PATH_ZMS=/cgi-bin/nph-zms
To:

Code: Select all

ZM_PATH_ZMS=/zm/cgi-bin/nph-zms
The Live video is working.

Did you do an upgrade from 1.30.4 to 1.31.1? If you did and failed to change the path in 1.30.4 I can understand why you had the issue. My test of 1.31.1 with a fresh install revealed no problem with live view.

Yes i did an update form 1.30.4 to 1.31.1
But in 1.30.4 it was also not working.
This was to reason to update the 1.31.1
