I was looking around for Security Camera software for linux.. mostly Slackware.
Since i am looking at installing systems for home use as well a small com apps..
One install i was looking at was for a med size gas station
4x motion control camera's for each pump island (color)
2x till camera's motion control possible (color)
1x store back IR bw or low light motion control (color)
2x general store camera's (color)
possibly
1x manager's office motion control camera (color)
i could go bw camera's for general store as well as mangers office camera's ....
i had a couple question's
(1) are there and sound options for said camera evens??
(2) the ability to write camera footage to cdrw dvrw or special hd DIR on a timer like every 48 hours or soo.. like alot of dvr systems do now it seems..
(3) using ZoneMinder on a commerial bases to customers of course a Donation Fee will be applied to this and forwarded to proper ZoneMinder Officials ???
(4) any lists of cature card, PTZ, and other hardware that will work well with ZoneMinder and linux eg: slackware kernel 2.6.12.2 or any 2.6.xx kernels of slackware?
if any have a simullar scheme let me know
If ZoneMinder works for me and any customers as i say the worm will turn
Zoneminder i think it is what i was looking for.............

(2) Yes it could be scripted and setup in a cron job to write to a device.
(3) I'm sure Phil would appreciate this.
(4) you can find this information here in the forum Hardware Compatibility List but no real list has been assembled.

I have two systems currently running with slackware 10 and 10.1 with the 2.4 series kernels. I can backup video to CD or DVD (and have done so for the cops). They run excellently, although slack's syntax is different than most distros and requires a small change to the code in order to work perfectly.
