I can't seem to get Zone Minder to monitor/display anything. Any
advice would be greatly appreciated.
I think I've got everything setup properly. I have one "monitor"
added to my configuration. It is in "Monitor" mode, and the
source is defined on /dev/video0 device channel 1. The resulting
links are "Orange", which I believe *may* indicate some sort of
problem, but I'm not sure.
When I click on the Name link to open up the monitor, I get a
black image. Below the image it shows "Status: Idle - 0.00 fps".
I was expecting to see more fps', but nothing. The page keeps
refershing, like it's working, but the picture is always black.
I've tried changing the Channel to 0, 2, & 3, but the results
are the same.
When running xawtv, I'm able to get video when I choose "Composite2"
as the Video source.
When starting up ZoneMinder, I get the following in the syslog

Any Advice?
Thanks in advance

channel 1 is what I'm working with the most, as from xaw, the second channel was the one that worked.cordel wrote:Have you tried channel 1? Acording to abouve you skipped it.
Not a thing in those apache logs.cordel wrote:If you get video in xaw then it should work in ZM. Try also looking in your apache logs and messages. There should be a clue somewhere.

I'm wondering if perhaps there is some silly ZM configuration that I've overlooked somewhere? Something that makes it record? Or perhaps a bad permission making it impossible for the program to write the images/video somewhere? I've reviewed the settings and dont' notice anything obvious. Perhaps I'll post my settings tomorrow, minus the user/pass stuff.

Re: Black Images - New Install ZM 1.21.3
Monitor mode is orange and correct but does not record video. You need to set mocord, modect, or record in order for anything to be recorded to hard drive and it should turn green in those settings. You might want to increase the verbosity of zm as discribed in the readme.HackHawk wrote: I think I've got everything setup properly. I have one "monitor"

The following message is repeating over and over in the syslog now that I turned on record instead of monitor.
system zma_m18[17902]: WAR [Waiting for capture daemon]
So, apparently I need to startup a deamon somewhere. I can't find anything in the forms on this, but I will continue to search the documentation.
