Buffer Overrun

Post by markwow »

Hi Folks,

I am running into this issue in my log: "Buffer overrun at index 130, image 462130, slow down capture, speed up analysis or increase ring buffer size" where the video files are only ending up 10 seconds long as opposed to 10 minutes as they were previously. I was running 1.32.3 on Ubuntu 18.04 and I decided to update to the latest and greatest 1.34.9 and now I am running into a lot of issues getting my recording to function as expected. I have made numerous changes to my camera setup to try to fix the issue, but nothing seems to be solving it. Here are my current settings for my cameras:

Screen Shot 2020-04-13 at 7.29.01 PM.png (98.13 KiB) Viewed 1494 times
Also my shared memory is running about ~24% which doesnt seem very high but I can also allocate more memory that way.

I am wondering what could be causing the problem now or if I am interpreting these settings incorrectly. Any help would be greatly appreciate and more than happy to provide more information on my system/cameras if that is helpful.

Thanks,
Mark

I'm fairly sure I also ran into this issue when I did an upgrade recently. I don't really remember if this is the solution I found or not, but IIRC I had to change my camera settings in the 'Source' tab. In particular, I had to change 'Target colorspace' to '24 bit color' because it was set to '32 bit color'. Hope it helps.

that message means that zma is not keeping up. This can be for a variety of reasons. If your cpu is just too overloaded then no amount of buffers will save you. If it is due to slow disks or temporary overload then larger buffers can give it more breathing room.
