motion detection configuration

I am using Zoneminder v1.34.11 and I have 5 rtsp cameras connected, at resolution 640x480, Modect function. Currently I am experiencing some issues with motion detection. The recorded events don't really show the whole story from start to finish. Some events are recorded long after a person is in the frame and stop way before the person leaves the frame.

I have mostly left the default settings for each camera, its a very simple, untouched installation. The only changes I made are these:

What I want to achieve is the following.

The event should include a couple of seconds before a person enters the camera area, and at least 4 seconds after they leave. And even if there's the slightest movement, it should be considered motion, and keep recording until there's no movement for at least 4 seconds.

Is this possible to configure?

Check the buffers tab and play with pre and post image count. Also I would recommend that you set the I frame interval same as the fps (that will be set from the camera) for me those settings work best:

Image Buffer Size (frames) 45
Pre Event Image Count 15
Post Event Image Count 10
