Only put events in event folder when event has complete.

Post by BaconButty »

Hi,

Just trying to do something here and I was wondering if there is a way to tell Zoneminder to only put events in the event folder when they are complete, and store them in a temporary folder until then?

No.

Why would you want to do that?

Wait a minute... yes there is a way.

You make your primary storage group for the monitor be your temp space.
Then you create a filter that moves the files to where you want them.

I'm using zoneminder and zmeventnotification to prune events to the point where only important stuff is in a folder that I can keep on a remote server. Raw data from the cameras is taking around 3TB a week, I've managed to get that down to a tiny fraction by using zmeventnotification to decide if there's something useful in the data.

The issues I have is that the syncing the event folder every minute means that it's uploading and then having to delete events on the remote server after they're deemed to be "uninteresting".

I was looking for a way to only have events that have something interesting in them get uploaded. Now that I look at it, using the find command in conjunction with rsync might actually work, but for some reason ZM is generating thumbnails up to 16 minutes after the the event which is screwing it up.

Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll see how I get on with this find idea and come back to this if I can't make it work reasonably.
