Logged password and upgrade suggestion

Post by fulvioth »

Hi all,
i just migrated my 1.32.3 installation to 1.34.16 without any problem, i'm very happy about that.
i noticed that same as with 1.32 some zm logs (like zmc_mX) still logs camera password in clear text like this:

07/13/20 10:05:16.110304 zmc_m1[19752].INF-zm_ffmpeg_camera.cpp/202 [Priming capture from rtsp://admin1:admin123@192.168.11.122/11]
so i wonder if this is still as designed or if i can do something to remove this info (in other logs it get masked with ****) like using secrets in url.

Other question, i'm planning to upgrade to 1.35.x becuase i'd love to try the function of getting small video with notifications so i'd like to know if any 1.35.x version can be considered stable enough for home use (with an already stable zm configuration).
Perhaps my ignorance but i wasn't able to find some info

thanks!

So... I've been lazy about filtering out passwords... as I thought that they were all debug level statements that showed it. This line should be a debug level line. However it appears to be Info level. I will fix that for 1.34.17 and 1.35 master.

1.35 apparently has some issues at the moment, but it generally works. I run it in production so if I break I tend to fix it quickly.

If you are going to run it, follow dev logs and be prepared to re-install last week's build if this week's fails. Also make sure you have a nightly db backup. (This advice is good for everyone).

Thank you very much iconnor for your follow up as well as for all the efforts you put in this project
if you use it in production then i'm pretty sure it's stable enough for my home use or anyway it's worth a try
