Errors in messages.log

Thanks to lots of help, I have made progress, but now I get:

I have followed the docs and set strict, but still get this:
ERR [Failed to set picture attributes: Invalid argument]
I have reduced/changed every attribute that I can and yet I still get the message.

I also get
zmu[3013]: ERR [Shared memory not initialised by capture daemon]

I have searched the forum and help, and can't find anything.

what res are your cameras setup to. If you search for your error you will find plenty of things but the best howti is in the faq. Check you are on med res ie 320x240 and that you have restarted zm

I can't see any video when I try to view it.
In /var/log I see the following:
ERR [Shared memory not initialised by capture daemon]

Each time I try and do anything I get this in /var/log:
Oct 6 21:45:27 madie zmc_d0[3538]: INF [Debug Level = 0, Debug Log = <none>]
Oct 6 21:45:28 madie zmc_d0[3538]: ERR [Failed to set picture attributes: Invalid argument]
Oct 6 21:45:29 madie zmu[3549]: ERR [Shared memory not initialised by capture daemon]
Oct 6 21:45:40 madie zmu[3554]: ERR [Shared memory not initialised by capture daemon]

Also the /dev/video(0) is red.

(I validated the camera works with vidcat/w3cam)

What settings do you have for the camera in zm?
Does those setting mach what the camera can do (size, color palet, etc...)?

i dont know much about usb webams but im sure i read somewhere that the res you catpure at is critical. If it were me thats what id start with on google or your prefered search eng

The camera is a DLink 300, (I think)
I have found the identifier inside as a cv-1620.

The camera works with w3cam/vidcat and can capture a still

mmmm dont know thwn if you have had it working in linux it obviuosly has drivers and modules it needs ok. Im afraid i dont know
