Video won't load

Post by fish2222 »

So, I have been running a version of 1.34 for quite a while, and tonight I noticed that there was an update for 1.36.12 available. I went ahead and ran the update. A little while later, I logged in and checked some older recordings, and they played back just fine. So, I checked it about 30 minutes later on a new recording, and now I get the "The video could not be loaded, either because the network failed or because the format is not supported." I did some reading on a few forums that others has done updates and it fixed it, but there are no updates available. On top of that, I was still running 18.04 Ubunutu, so I went ahead and updated to 20.04. Same issue. And to top it off, now I am getting a zmfilter_6 error, "no email address defined, not sending mail", so my alerts are not going out either. I know I spent quite a bit of time getting those to work last time. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks.

Here is a picture of the log with an error in it, if that helps.

So, I figured out the missing email issue. A filter needed an address added to it, which much have changed at some point. I am getting blank emails now though, so I am not sure how to get the clip of the video to send like it used to.

Have a look in storage part of each monitor. Optional Encoder Parameters - Remove all the comments and set something sensible.

Thanks. You got me pointed in the right direction. It was actually in the storage settings, but the output codec and encoder were both set to auto. Changing the output codec to h264 fixed it. Not sure why that would have changed during the upgrade, or why it broke, but that fixed it.

1.36 is a major rewrite vs 1.34, so some settings weren’t transferable.

So, I thought I had it fixed... Now I am getting a lot of the clips via email and the recordings that look like this for a few seconds, then go back to normal. There is a also a blip of a message about not finding a file for a split second in the video also. Any ideas?

Strange thing is it's just one camera and the other 3 are the same model, and all of the settings look exactly the same. Didn't have this issue before the upgrade.

It’s a pretty common problem. Usually flipping TCP/UDP setting resolves. And make sure you are using FFMPEG not the older method to capture the RTSP streams.

Well, I tried the TCP/UDP switch, but ended up deleting the camera out and re-adding it, and that seems to have helped.

Check the key frame interval on the cameras. I’ve run into cameras were the same, but some internal settings were different for some reason.

So, one other issue I found. For some reason this same camera that I readded has a different bar at the bottom on playback of recordings then the other 4 cameras. It has no time, camera name, pause button, etc. I thought re-adding it might fix it, but it didn't. Any way to fix this?

If you didn’t, try cloning one of the other cameras.
See if the bar is there. Then edit the clone as needed.

Foo. Shot in the dark, if you re-used the monitor id, use a previously unused one. Maybe something stuck in the database?
