Hi
My setup has only one camera at the moment. I've noticed that when the camera is set the Monitor mode, the CPU utilisation is around 20%. In Modest, it's around 85%. When it's disabled (None), CPU utilisation is <2%. Does anyone know why Monitor mode requires so many CPU cycles even when there is no viewer connected? Isn't Monitor essentially a standby mode that feeds RTSP streams to clients?
Thanks
Higher than expected CPU utilisation in Monitor mode
Re: Higher than expected CPU utilisation in Monitor mode
It’s connecting to the camera, doing something with the RTSP, but then decoding the video. The latter being most of the hit. This all happens regardless of someone watching. That’s my understanding.
One day you might have a lighter option and an ‘on demand’ feature, but not currently.

Current master has on demand functionality. Getting there.
