GPL is what zm is Licensed under meaning that it is open source. Free not in the terms that everone seems to relate to as not costing money but free to copy, distribute, change and redistribute, as long as there is some sort of access to the source code and it not used in a closed source project.
Nothing is Free. It costs someone something for anything and this case you are contributing time that could be otherwise used to go to work and make money or time that you might use to relax and kick your feet up.
There actualy should be a copy of the license packaged with the software if you intend to build under the licence. It should also be noted in the about box where you put you credits.

OK then new version up

Features added

Picture in picture view
Quad view with 1 quadrant sequential switch

16 way
24 way
36 way
Max at the moment is 36 cameras

Alos added a cycle tickbox so
quad will full page seq switch through all 36 cams
7 way etc etc
bigger views ie 24 way and 36 way dont have cycle choice as i assumed you wouldnt want to.
If you onlyt have say 8 cams just repeat the urls through the settings to make your sequences look ok.

Corey, I think i have took the viewer as far as it will go. Obviously as you can see im being overloaded with suggestions and ideas nearly as many as the downloads of it, anyway i want to extend it to be a playback too.

When i made an access front end for zm i used the mysql odbc driver. If i do this the data for connecting is hard written into the app, so having it changed from a 'settings menu' is out of my league at the mo. So what i have been wondering is to do it over the web interface just like the viewer does. ie pass the relevant http coammnd to zm and interpret the reply. I have asked phil about the possibility of having a cgi command so the windows app can ask if a paticular monitor is in alarm, the only other way i can see of making alarms work is to make (somehow) the windows app accept inputs itself. I have also looked at doing motion detection too on the local machine but this seems daft as there would be no tie in between client and server. On this point alone i am thinking of just request say once a second if the relevant monitor is in alarm and if so pop up the 'spot monito' much like zm web ui does now. Anyway you get the idea. Plus i assume i can request events from the zm server via a http command. Do you think this has milage or should i have a think about another way of doing this?

Yes there is already somthing in the server end that you can GET the status info. I peaked at it once some time back but haven't really poked around with it. Give me some time to get some other things here off my plate and I'll see what I can do to help out.
I was also considering at one time making a flash viewer for zm but I am already over loaded learning other things (PHP being a big one as someone wants to pay me to make them something, go figure it's not a small project either) I figure I'll be working on this for the next several months at least. I figure this will also get me where I need to be to help Phil out a bit more and give users some options with the web interface.
At some time I need to learn more about cgi scripting in perl so I can finnish up the Webmin module for ZM and need to really sitdown and finnish the SELinux rules as well.

Cordel
