Tips for Installation on Proxmox for 100 cameras

Post by pepex7 »

I am deploying zoneminder (1.36 and testing 1.37) for 100 cameras. I have 3 servers with 1 SSD 480 and 2 x 12TB drives. I plan to do a CT with Zoneminder in Proxmox 7.2. What do you recommend?

Running a proxmox with 20 cameras.

CPU will not be a problem, ZM has come up nicely on that use.
- Disk storage is a function of your requirement
- We have disk on NAS, and LUN mounted on Ubuntu (zm guest)

The RAM leakage issue is however going to possibly break it
- I am using ZM 1.37.x (Master branch), updates almost daily
- Memory problem is still there.
- In another test environment, used 1.36.32 on a 24GB RAM, let's see how it goes, for now it has increased from 4GB initial to 8GB and is still climbing.

So in summary - do your calculation of RAM before you take a plunge.

Thank you..!!
Are you using a container (ct) or vm?

How should I calculate the ram?
What configuration do you recommend for storage?
I plan to have the system running in a ct, but I still don't know what configuration to do for the storage of the recordings.

Thanks for your answer.
