What Camera To Purchase?
What Camera To Purchase?
So I am trying to cross reference the camera's listed in OPTIONS/CONTROL, to what Amazon has to offer and the actual model names are not matching very well.
Can someone suggest a ONVIF camera with all the bells and whistles, yet won't cost an arm and a leg?

Re: What Camera To Purchase?
All of the reolink camers are well supported and are very inexpensive to get you started.
Are they the best camera? nope. Are they good for the money? yep.

Re: What Camera To Purchase?
Amcrest are similar to reolink, not the best, but cost effective and well supported. I have 6 Amcrest cameras.

Hikvision and clones are pretty good these days, and pretty cheap.

Just to confirm, my Zoneminder software install is in a VPS hosted by Linode (Akamai). This camera will work remotely, right?pat2 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 8:24 pm Indoor: cheap TP Link, https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B07XLM ... JU7H&psc=1

Re: What Camera To Purchase?
Any IP camera can work remotely, but you'll be dealing with several issues to overcome.
Non -Static IP is a hurdle.
Correctly opened and unique ports is a hurdle.
Bandwidth may be a hurdle.
It's not at all impossible, running remotely just adds to the complexity.

Re: What Camera To Purchase?
Jidetech, Avertx, Amcrest 4k, and Lorex for the doorbell is what I use. No issues except you have to put a leash on them if you know what I mean (I don't leash the doorbell camera for alert reasons, I like Lorex and their software and don't care if my front door video is sent to china). WTI Sidewinder works with Zoneminder. It's a PTZ camera that is amazing (continuous rotation, look anywhere (except underneath it's own base), and an all American made camera and software (truly a sight for sore eyes after years of this china garbage)). Onvif compliant, I modified a python program to use a xbox controller (still needs fine tuning and a stand alone binary). There is one on ebay right now for $300 https://www.ebay.com/itm/274325213632. That one is just like mine except I think it is ac powered and not PoE++ type 4. These DOT and ex-Goverment/Airport cameras should be payed attention to right about now.
I've never tried Axis cameras, but they are heavily used in "municipalities". Get USED for certain situations or leash a china camera.
Video from the Sidewinder the other night just messing around pointing up and trying to track the moon while messing with camera settings (this is a Zoneminder recording): https://rumble.com/v2r4cme-wti-sidewind ... tical.html. You have to know how to use rumble unfortunately, to see the 1080p video and sadly they haven't even "re-appropriated" the compute power lol .
P.s. Sunba is another one in the PTZ realm that has great reviews from what I've seen. I haven't owned one but they are pretty cheap.
Re: About the leash!
All my (chinese and not) cameras stay on a leash!
