Filter has no "Disk Space" choice

Post by patmansf »

Running v1.36.33 via rpmfusion-free-updates on Fedora 38.

In the filters, I see no "Disk Space" as an item to compare with - the only ones with Disk in the name that show up are "Disk Blocks", "Disk Percent" and "Event Disk Space".

Was it renamed?

Otherwise any ideas on how to get it to show up?

I moved to a larger storage area, but it's shared so I want to limit zoneminder space to a fixed value - not a percent of available space.

Thanks :)

Event disk space is the one.
If you want to limit zm storage to a specific size, the best way is simply make a partition of the size needed.
Otherwise set the percentage based on the available size. E.G., if you have 2GB disk, and you want to use 1GB of it, set disk percent to 50 or a bit less.

Yeah I have shared data on the partition I'm using and want to keep it that way, and then allow the two main users to use up to 60% or so of the available space - if both are above 60% it'll run out of disk space, and I'll have to manually delete things but that's fine for my use: I delete ZM events older than 16 days and for normal usage ZM will be well below 60%.

I think it's a typo on this post - instead of "Disk Space" I think iconnor meant "Disk Percent", and why I was looking for "Disk Space":

viewtopic.php?p=128763#p128763

I can't find any documentation on the filter values, but just tried out "disk percent": it's the amount of space used on the partition(s) ZM is using and not the amount of space ZM is using, so that won't work for me.

But it looks like Event Disk Space will work for me, I can just compare it to whatever size I want, such as 1GB in bytes.

The problem with Event Disk Space is that it is per event, not aggregate.

What you want hasn't been implemented, although these days we likely have the infrastructure in place to do it.... we have the value you want in the Storage Areas table. So we should be able to add code to select it.

This is the kind of thing that needs someone to fund it though, or it isn't going to happen.

What does "Disk Percent" do?
