Unable to convert raw format 0

Post by zmf »

Hi all,

I've recently added a new camera (Tapo 21) via RTSP to my ZoneMinder install. Everything seem fine with the camera, I can view live, it's mdoetecting. I can PTZ it (well, PT it anyway). Even the little light comes on when I open the door.

The one fly in the ointment is that it's flooding the logs with the following:

ERR [zmc_m15] [Unable to convert raw format 0 yuv420p 1920x1080 to target format 26 rgba 1920x1080: Invalid argument]

On the face of it, the error seems to make sense (except why 420p is 1920x1080?!) The funny thing being that the camera works just fine. I've never seen it with any of my other cameras and trying to Google this issue didn't turn anything helpful up. Can anyone offer any pointers, please?

It's not 420p as in a worse version of 720p (720 scanlines, progressive) but 420 is a measure of how much sampling is done on the colour space, you see all sorts of variants, 422, 442 etc. Although that one might be football formations. Not sure ;)

More than you ever needed to know here :-

Thanks. That makes more sense! Sounds like it's trying to convert the colour format then? I guess this is a YUV camera and all my others are RGB? How does ZoneMinder do the conversion? From the "Invalid Argument" message, I guess it's employing some external tool and there's a mismatch between the versions and maybe the argument list is different? Are there any good docs on how all the zoneminder processes, etc interact?

I found that checking the Preserve Aspect Ratio in the Source settings page cleared up this exact error from flooding my log. Hope it works for you!
