logs and events disappearing
logs and events disappearing
I've installed ZM a few days ago, and I am still getting up to speed with its features. Since today, however, I noticed that the log entries and also the events seem to be disappearing from their queue. I mean, I get only the most recent pageful of entries, and everything before that appears to be inaccessible. I don't think that anything gets deleted, also because there are 65 GBytes available on the disk. Running Ubuntu as a virtual machine on a windows host. What I am doing wrong?

Re: logs and events disappearing
Is zm seeing those 65GB according to the top display, "Storage"?
What does Log->Total: say?
What does Log->Total: say?
Re: logs and events disappearing
The web banner says:
Load: 0.62
storage DB: 8/151
Default: 73%
/dev/shm: 2%
log banner says:
State: ok - Total: 13 - Available: 13 - Displaying: 1 to 25 - Updated: 7/28/24, 5:37:44 AM GMT+2
Once the log fills the page, it wipes out everything and starts from scratch.

Did you change the filters? If it was running and this just started, that's one way to break it. The only other thing comes to mind is the log settings in Options.
Re: logs and events disappearing
yes, I think that it started after I changed the filters. Should it return to normal after simply sudo systemctl restart zoneminder?

Re: logs and events disappearing
The filters are re-read every 5 minutes unless you changed Options->System->FILTER_RELOAD_DELAY , so a restart isn't needed.
Debug/logging does need a restart.
You'll have to change the filters back if you saved them.
