Recommended camera??

Post by hornetster »

Sure this topic must already exist, but can't find it...
Can anyone point me to a source that details/helps me find, a camera that can be used locally? ie doesn't need an app, can be accessed using rtsp://, or even https://, and controlled/monitored using Zoneminder, locally?
Have a Nextech QC3864, which is... useless!!
Preferences are HD/2K/4K, reasonable price (cheap as possible ;-) ), etc.
Thanks,
John.

If you have the camera's IP, try running nmap on it.
That will hopefully tell you if it has an rtsp port open. Some that have it are oddball, like 10554. So run all ports if a normal scan doesn't show an rtsp.

Have got partway, found a port (9527), low quality, but will have a bit of a play...\
Thanks again!

Yeah, I still haven't really worked it out...
Think the real answer is something with POE, but I have great difficulty running any cables round my place (highset brick...)

You'll often need an app for initial setup, but after that you can usually access the camera directly,
If it wants to call chine, you can typically block it at your router without killing the camera rtsp.
