AI support in ZM

It would be nice to have object detection an integral part of ZM similar to how Frigate is approaching the problem. The two places where ZM trumps over Frigate today is better Webui and Zmninja. However, frigate has better integration of object detection.

you ever got this working with the current versions of ZM?> I'm setting up something similar and wondered if there's been any recent change in how ONVIF profiles are handled during camera discovery. Also curious—did you notice any difference using FFMPEG vs LibVLC in your case?

Totally agree with you! ZoneMinder’s WebUI and Zmninja are pretty solid, but adding built-in AI object detection like Frigate would be awesome. It could really boost ZM’s capabilities and make monitoring way smarter without needing extra setups.

I’ve seen cool AI projects like https://openeverything.us/ that focus on integrating AI tools smoothly — maybe something like that could inspire the ZoneMinder community to bring object detection closer to the core. Fingers crossed we get some neat AI features soon!
