Had a small issue regarding motion detection
I usually use mocord on all cams but dont need advanced motion detection just any change at all, i am using it just to increase the frame rate (remove frame skip) when the image changes, so false alarms dont matter to me.
As blobs seem to be heavier on the server i try to use alarmed pixels. If the camera is contantly in alarm or mainly in alarm zm wont create a new event at the 10 minute frequency. For example i accidently left a dome on patrol and it stoppped rocording events. If the dome remains stationary it starts again. If i use blobs this doesnt happen. Can i use something else that is mega light on the server that can just detect the image has changed or am i on the right track as is?
Cheers

thanks
Has anyone else tried thid as its unlikely in most systems to have perm alarms but blobs does deal with it better than other settings

i have just set up a single monitor on mocord
set dome to patrol (stationary at preset for 5 secs)
capturing at 2 fps
10 pre and post alarm images
in alarmed pixels it creates one event then not another unless i stop the patrol. Works fine in record mode. works fine when set to blobs. I have found this on another system with a broken camera that sends a dodgy image, is constantly in alarm and sometimes doesnt create a new event (alarmed pixels again)

I have put an optional mod in for this tonight. When I was trying it out I was getting unclosed events in blob mode (at least until the motion stopped). Is it possible that your settings are just on the cusp so that blob mode gets the odd frame unalarmed, it only needs one to close the event. You should be able to check in /var/log/messages.

i see so you have done something to forcable close the event at the expiry of the event time and restart a new event if if constantly in alarm?
Regarding motion detection which one is the lightest on processor? I assume its alarmed pixels.
