zm-1.21.4-0.1 RPM up for test

Post by cordel »

I'm posting here and not in annoucements as I have not tested the package at all
Disclaimer: Test at your own risk, I haven't had the chance to test it. AKA-Hot off the press as they say :D
Also make note that I'm running into an issue packaging the CVS version of ffmpeg so this zm is packaged and should work with ffmpeg-0.4.8.
As soon as I get the CVS version of ffmpeg packaged I will build on it.

That being said, I'll load it on my machine here in about 12 hrs from the time of this post (The way my lucks been running I'd like to wait for day light as It's that time of the year that my truck got broken into and I got started with ZM to begin with) My test machine is broken and I haven't had the funds to try to fix it. I'd appreciate some feed back and don't hesitate to post here your findings so every one can colaborate.
Once everything checks out Ross and I will get the update for the LiveCD out shortly after.

New RPM 1.21.4-0.2 out hopefully with the fix for this admin user issue. http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5206
this would only affect a new install and not an upgrade.
Regards,
Cordel

Also it would appear that I have broke the spec file and you will see a package requires error. I'm not sure if forcing gets beyond it but I am going through it now.

I cleared up the typo I put in the spec so it will update just fine. I also have it loaded the update on my server and so far no issues.
I redownloaded the source assuming that the fix to this issue is already in. http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5206

So the version you want is 1.21.4-0.3
Please report any issues your have with this rpm here.

Assuming that there are no issues, after a week I'll update the yum server and those off you that have either add the repo or that have zm-ctu distro can just run yum update :D

Also I know that we have a few new linux users so here are the instructions to upgrade.
Download the rpm(s)
rpm -Uvh zm-1.21.4-0.3.fc.root.i386.rpm
Thats all there is to it. 8)

There are some errors in the database and some a line of data that is populated in it. I'm working it out and once done youll find zm-1.21.4-0.4 update in the testing folder as above.
This only affects new installs and not any problem with upgrades.

If no one has any problems to report, then I'm going to start preping for the official package and forward to Ross to build for mandrake. Please let me know if there are any issues.

Can you publish src.rpm package, please? I like to rebuild it on FC-4.

It currently fails on FC4, I haven't yet had the chance to go back and correct it. Once I get FC4 and Suse worded out, I'll have it up. Otherwise if I put it out as is everyone will be on me because it's broke and since I'm home with the flu I find my self distracted enough already  and have another project thats got higher priority before I can reload for FC4.

Hopefully got all the bugs covered, I have put up version 1.21.4-0.4.
It's patched for the database issue and for an image quality bug.
It's still in the testing directory on my FTP.

I'll be working on the x86_64 RPM next then will go after FC4 and Suse.

Also if anyone has a test machine that could test out a fresh install I'd be ever so grateful.
It would seem that a power surge is responsible for taking down several of my machines including my test box so I'm at a lack of resources at the moment.

Thanks Madmax for the offer but I think I have it covered. I picked up a new redundant supply for my file/everything server (ouch, those are expensive) and a new power-supply for the test box (Looks like the CPU is Toast, If any one can get me a line on a PIII 1GHz slot 1 proc) so it's almost there. The other box was the virtual machine that was to be the build box and it looks to have several things fried.
So the lesson is:
Make sure you have surge arresters on your equipment.
If you can, get a good supply that will not cascade (I like Antec) or you will lose more than just a power supply.
I only lost one of the two redundant supplies because one was on a UPS and didn't lose any components because they are quality supplies (For $230 ea they should be ;) ).

Lesson learned here :D

Can you send URL, please?
Your site (ctu-web.com) is pretty messy with directory three of tens empty directories and plenty of obsoleted files.

None have been reported thus far. I have done an RPM upgrade but have yet to do a fresh install so the only concern would be that my patch for the database works. Easy fix should it not. I thought I seen in another post your using my distro. If so, once I move the package to the updates directory all you have to do is type in a console yum update
or you can (assuming you haven't enabled the FC repos) start the yum service which would run yum update nightly.
