Good and Bad News...jameswilson wrote:dont kow where its occuring but i have changed some stuff
Still no ZM cameras for me. Went back to older version and it works fine. So I suspect that the cgi path on the PATHS page is not actually taking my /zoneminder/cgi-bin/nph-zms path addition.
The playback path in the other box is working because I do get payback fine.
Good News ALL export formats work here now. !!!!!! Also not getting that exception error when hitting the settings button to start.
The URL refresh rate is sticking in the settings box and seems to work fine too!
I have a sneaking reason to think that the path to streaming is just not working.
Everything is is looking great James..... Seems you squashed the other buglets except motion is still throwing an error.... but I still have not dove in to that one yet.
Cheers

I put the upgraded sme server with zm installed on one of my live IP's here at home, Everything was working fine. I changed the authenication method and admin password to add an outside user. Everything had been working fine. Before I checked the viewer again, I got your message and installed the latest version. The all of a sudden no zm cameras. Downloaded again same thing. Removed and installed again. Same thing. Today I went back to one I knew that was working and no zm cameras... Thank god for linux log files!!!
Weird thing was I could do a browser get using stream and it worked from this machine... But in the log it was changing the stream user depending on how I logged in to your viewer.... Changed the authenication method in zm and now she is working fine again
Sorry chap for the alarm !!! I'll try to do better next time.

i have never used https for streaming. if you modify the path to include https, would that make it work?

Followup.
James,
Yea motion is about all I think., But the more I have tried to set up remotely there is something else I think. Can you allow a user admin rights other than the user Admin.? The reason I ask is that depending on authenication methods in ZM, The user and pass that you are sending from the viewer change with your login to the viewer.
Ie: Login in with admin and say 1234, the viewer does the http: get sending the users login name (admin) and password (1234) to zm for the stream user and stream pass. I never saw a problem unitl I put the machine live and required passwords for ZM. I was using the defaults admin/admin which of course has streaming permissions for default. No problem unitl I changed my password on ZM but did not use the same password for the viewer. This is then a mis-match and the stream will not work and untill you start looking at logs to debug it, it is tough to figure out
So I guess maybe you need to allow any user admin rights if the REAL admin assigns them. The reason is that I have my stream user and stream pass set in ZM, I have to log in to the viewer with the same user name and pass to make it stream. I have to log out and back in with admin as user to change settings and then when you save it , you have to log back out/in as the stream user...... big pain. Maybe just a check box by the user to grant admin rights would do it)
I guess too not really a good Idea passing the real admin password by http as the stream password anyway.
On another front. I can't seem to get the viewer to stream my images over remote from work to the live server at home. Everything is set ok, but just can not get an image from remote. Works fine on the lan at home. Now the other weird thing is that I can not log in to zm at home and stream either with Internet Exploder! Tried several machines here, none would display the images. Pulled up mozilla and it works fine.... go figure... something weird I guess ,they stream at home fine with IE.
Too many grimilens running around for me today. 1st. thing I had to replace an 8 Port router and a 16 port switch when I got here. Hello SE USA thunder/lightning storms!!!
Cheers
Dan

Dan, regarding your stream if you cant get one in a browser then my app has no chance.
I noticed after i upgraded to 1.21.4 that it wouldnt accept plain auth in zms unless all auth was set to plain. Phil is gonna change this back but its like that at the mo. I use my app remotly for all sorts so i dont think there is a problem.
Regarding your admin/user issue. I dont agree but then i use it in a way different way and it wont be hard to make user 1 have admin rights too so i will add it.
BTW cheers for all your testing on this app i think we are really getting somewhere. You will have to let me know what happens with the motion thing cos i have had no issues with it. (mindyou my db is called zm)
I think need to add better playback facilities but the hardest bit is creating the interface.
