another zm'er has suggested being able to mark events. I think this is a good idea, basically you mark an event then you can list all marked events seperatly, maybe could use the notes field.
Everyone else, we need a ui look for playback, would love some ideas as im no good at design.

I have had the following issues raised with and will answer them here
1 ok no problem i will make it an option
2 Ok i agree and will sort in next release
2
ffmpeg is used on the windows client to create videos of selected playback items. It is so the end user never has to go near the web interface (thats what i use it for)
3 I dont understand this, each window is resizable and the video will fit the size of the window. Plus the default start size is 640x480 and the allows a 4:3 ration on the first 4 cams. the only time i have had an issue with this is when resizing the main window, the app will resize the windows to fit the current screen size and this causes caos when using the 2 camera view button
Hope these are ok and keep em coming
James
I agree i thought i had fixed this but i may of broken it with the last 2 featuras i added. Can you confirm that the ip's ar blank for undefined and that url mode is disabled for the camsI've just noticed something with the cycle view:
If the last camera set in the cycle view is greater than the number of cameras defined, it will just sit on the last camera for ages. eventually I just got a red 'x'.
Perhaps you could make the default behaviour to cycle only through the defined cameras?
Code: Select all
Two other things that I've noticed so far...
1. It would be good if I could turn off the 'Ensure settings are saved before closing this window' message
2. The settings page opens up just a little too big to fit on a 1024x768 screen.
2 Ok i agree and will sort in next release
1 not currently as it is designed for lan and remote use, but i could put a default refresh rate in the settings that would get around this. On the first version i did i did it this way but on remote links its uselessThree quick questions,
1. In the playback mode, is there any way to increase the refresh rate? for examply, if I'm viewing events at 10x speed, it doesn't appear to request images from the server any faster than at 1x speed and instead skips a bunch of frames. This makes it a little harder to navigate through the events, especially since we only record at about 2 fps.
2. What is ffmpeg used for on the windows client? or is this for furture use?
3. In the normal 'live' view, is it possible to add a button or setting to display each camera at 100% scaling? currently cameras seem to be slightly distorted in the horizontal direction.

FInally got zm cams to stream from work. THink it was my fault in original set up. Now streams as ZM defined cams. (Think I either had bad or missing path statement to zm cgi directory) All works fine now. I really love the adjustable url refreshes..... best option yet!

It is not a problem. Just need to open the mysql port to the outside world. The problem is the templated system in SME Server. They are Real Tight on Security. It is even blocked to the local side of the gateway. I finally figured out how to change the database to open it up. But have not figured out how to open the database for that port to the outside yet. Just need to read some more. I can open it, but expanding the templates on upgrades wipes it out..... Just need that 40 hour day to read some more and figure it out.jameswilson wrote:why dont you stick your zm on some different ports

The high speed mode in the playback is great!
A few more ideas - when in the playback mode, perhaps clicking the 'play forward' or 'play reverse' buttons multiple times could increase/decrease the play back speed? (effectively moving the slider) - maybe make the slider go from -10 to +10?
Also, I'm not sure how the playback UI could be improved even further - perhaps using some sort of calendar control which shows which days for which there is footage available, along with the current date and date being played back highlighted?
Perhaps also an easy way to jump to a specific time?
If the size of the event list was reduced, such controls may be added in there?
Also, what about highlighting events that meet a specified score?
Anyways, keep up the great work! I too am now starting to find that I use your app to view the cameras rather than the web interface.
Cheers,
-Kent

good ideas i like
The jump to time i was considering but wasnt sure as to its use as you can just slide down the events list, regarding space i could make the events list smaller as you say (not full height) and use the reclaimed real estate
Regarding the forward and reverse idea i agree ill try and work out a way to do that
And the high light idea i suppose white for 0
green for up to 2
amber for upto 10
and red for above 10
again ill have a play and see what i can come up with
Thanks Again

Beta Update
added a date selector to the motion only search as it took too long to load so now you can only search for motion on a particular date
