Debian installation Manual (New release)

Post by Koenzie »

Hello Everybody,

I've made a full manual for the installation of ZM running on Debian.
Because i cant find a good manual on the internet i want to share mine.

Here is the link (incl. mirrors) :
http://www.zoneminder.com/downloads/Zon ... nstall.doc
http://217.154.38.122:8080/ZM_Utils/Zon ... nstall.doc
http://rapidshare.de/files/9204432/Zone ... l.doc.html

If somebody else can host it on their server, please do so and post the link

You can post your comments and additions here.
I hope you all can install zm succesfully with this manual

Good Luck !

Greetings,

Koenzie

Thank you Koenzie for that.
I now it will help out.

If you are not able to maintain the web page, I might be able to get a wiki up on mine and post this in it. That way it would be available and you could make changes as needed.

Regards,
Cordel

Yeah I can. I'll have to get something loaded for it on the server. The only thing there now is a doc manager That I haven't even used. I'm thinking wiki so that it's easy to edit.

Oke, sounds great, maybee for the time you can just host the doc file ? Rapid share is not so easy and stable

i was only pulling your leg mate. im useless at writing manuals but yours looks good. Ill host it here as long as that server stays alive and my static ip remains constant. Im thinking about putting a webpage up on it with links to stuff instead of just folders but thats for when i have time

Everyone seems to be doing the same thing! I've put it up at http://www.zoneminder.com/downloads/Zon ... nstall.doc and added a comment and link to this thread from the Documentation page.

Rapidshare certainly make you jump through hoops to download it though!

thanks for manuall.

- I test it under debian stable/testing without x.

- First I try with debian stable, but versions of libc6, libgcc1 and libstdc++6 are old for zm .deb.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
#apt-get install zm
zm: Depende: libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1) pero 2.3.2.ds1-22 va a ser ins-talado
Depende: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.0.0-9) pero 1:3.4.3-13 va a ser instalado
Depende: libstdc++6 (>= 4.0.1) pero no va a instalarse
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Then I upgrade to debian testing and is running ok.

- Version of zm packet(deb) is 1.21.3 because I cannot see timeline:
#apt-cache show zm Version: 1.21.3-4

- Somebody try upgrade to new version 1.21.4 ?? i tried with:

#zmupdate.pl --version=1.21.3 --user=zm --passw=zmpass

I love the idea of having a Debian Doc.
Curious if anyone has tested this doc?
Thanks for your hard work!

Tim

OOOOOPS!
Please disregard I see two people have voted that it works!

Best,
