Hi Scott,

I have a DCS-1000W (the wireless version of yours) and can get images ok. Have you looked in /var/log/messages to see what errors are being reported.

Yeah, I got it to work, I had an incorrect gateway on the camera. I currently getting about .67 FPS. Is thier anyway to increase this using an FTP method or increasing the remote pulling?

Thanks for the info Philip

Yes, it's feeble isn't it. I thought my crap frame rate on my DCS-1000W was because I was doing it over 802.11b until I plugged it in and found it was just as bad when wired. It's stupid really as the Axis cameras (even the cheap ones) can get around 5fps at 640x480. There's not a huge amount I can suggest at present though I am working on extracting the streams from the video feed directly. I'm not sure which release that will make tho.

Found the configuration ZM_OPT_REMOTE_CAMERAS and it seems to be almost 3 frames a second at times as 320 x 240. I have a couple hauppage cards in the machine that only work at 320 x 240 and can's seem to make the remote camera work with 640 x 480. I get a red device. Is this a limitation to having other lower pixel rates on other devices. IE it only will support the lowest setting for all devices on the machine?

I understand supporting all these different cameras is a pain, and appreciate that you may work directly off the feed at some point whenever you need a beta tester let me know.

Hi Scott,

One other thing you have to be aware of is that if you have things running at 320x240 for instance and change to a larger size, the capture process will attempt to delete and recreate the shared memory (as it can't enlarge it as such). If something is hanging onto it, for example a streaming view, then this will fail. Whenever enlarging views the safest thing to do is restart ZM completely.

Hi Phil,
Long time...

Anyway, have you tried upgrading the firmware in your DCW-1000 camera? There seems to be two versions of the camera, A and B. Now, version A has a new firmware that supposedly adds "Firmware support Server Push spec. for image Transfer (HTTP Protocol)".

Maybe the firmware upgrade could solve the framerate issues.

Hi Jose,

Nice to see you back!

I've upgraded my firmware once but the versions for the UK and the US are different and the US site is quite specific about it not being for international use. I do have an 'A' though so maybe I'l risk it. Actually my biggest bugbear with the DCS-1000W is not the frame rate but the image quality. If I point it indoors it's dull and colourless, if I point it outside it's just one big washed out pink screen.

I've nearly finished a mod to handle motion JPEG type stream like you get from these cameras which will hopefully improve the frame rate considerably. Maybe my opinion of it will change then. I've got an Axis205 as well and everything about that is just so much more professional so I doubt it.

Cheers,

I have updated the firmware, Increased the shmmax and shmmall. Got the camera working, kind of. If you go into cameras website while zone minder is running it will freeze the camera and its web page will crash. We also had an problem last night were the camera pul or some process caused ZM to quite responding all when loging in. After a Termination of the ZMA and ZMC process we were able to get back into the system. We found out that the other cameras cap card based were still working in back end of ZM but the DCS-1000 last capture was at during the night, not being in the office for 7 hours I can't tell when the camera actually quit or ZM stuck. All that being said.
Quality= bad
Freezing= bad
Footprint= big
Casing= Ugly.
Framerate= low.

I would have to recommend staying away from this camera, unless some miracle is disovered with JPEG motion capture.
