another newbe question

OK...let me start by saying im very green to any linux OS....but wanna learn it and use it ....

I downloaded the live cd v1.21.3..my camera works with the live cd.
So since i know that my "cheepo e-bay special bt878 card" works with zoneMinder i go for an install from the cd.
It installs and reboots and comes up nicely. so i click the tab on the browser to get the zoneminder console up. so far so good but when i click the cam_1 i get the screen up but no video stream, not even a time stamp. just a broken pic in the upper left side of where the video should be...Source settings and monitor settings are exact from the live cd setup....I can shut it down and start it back with the live cd , instead of booting for hd, and it works...so i know its not my cable or camera.....

Am i supposed to start some service with the HD install that i dont have to with the live cd???....

HELP...i know its something stupid im not doing...

It may be that you are just too quick on the trigger

When booting up, the web interface can be working, while the zm serviers are still starting in the background.

When you first start up is the "source" link in the zm console green or red? If red, just wait a few moments and refresh the browser page. Then if it's green you should be good to go.

Check this out and if it's not the problem let us know and we'll look for something else

I dont think i was too quick on the draw...I let it set for a few hours and it still wouldnt work...I backed up, downloaded v1.21.0 live cd and installed it. Other than having to manually configure my nic card, everything works great now...I dont know what is up with the new v1.21.3...but i will try to troubleshoot it.
