Hi and thanks to all,
I'm evaluating to use zm for my home surveillance system.
Had a first look to documentation and apparently a functionality
which I need is missing.
I need to view camera images from internet (and it seems to be
quiet possible), but I also want to see a combination of camera images
(such as quad or cyclic output) displayed in common bnc monitor.
And I need at least 2 monitors in different rooms.
The purpose is: if I hear rumours or suspect someone is around my house I want to see immediately the camera output.
I need a tool to configure/assembly a single image from
a combination of 7/8 cameras and get it through a bnc ouput
device/adapter.
Is it possible ?
Thanks
Roberto
get bnc output from zm ?
Yes, sort of.
What you want is an multiplexer aka quad Processors to loop you video into. then from the output of the quad you can pipe it into a monitor(s) or into a modulator so that you can see it on any tv on that cable run.

Corey
[Edit] Thats if you want to display several cameras at one time. This setup will not tax the zm system as everything is handled by the appliances

or if you can wait i want to do this out of the zm box using a tv out card. I think that the linux gui can do it now but as yet its untested.

Thanks Corey,
if I understand correctly you point me to buy an additional quad processor device, and find
a way to loop video into it.
But that results in a big limitation: i can't use IP cameras, since I can't figure how to loop their images to the quad device.
Best option would be a software quad processor/multiplexer getting
input from zm monitors and giving output as composite video or similar.
Is there nothing like that around zm ?
Thanks
Roberto

well like i say i havnt got that far but i will be using a radeon. As far as i know the tv out can be configured to mirror the main vga window assuming the resolution isnt to high (1024x768 or 800x600). I plan to use the linux gui, have an auto login to x and then load the linux gui at boot. Ultimatly the gui needs a watchdog as none of this is written as yet. but your free to try the gui its in the contribs section. It hasnt had much done to it lately as im concentrating on the windows viewer for the moment

Unlike video input into a Linux system and v4l and bttv etc which is nice and standardised (mostly), video out is entirely card dependant and so will be different for each card or manufacturer. Unfortunately I don't have a TV out card to develop against so I can't really get it working for even one just yet.
