motion detection in a pitch black room w/NO motion???

Post by sick347 »

I have 2 cameras setup now and BOTH have the same parameters but different input ports on the video card.

The one called "test" does NOT like motion, it records nearly nothing when I'm standing in front of it and moving around. BUT when the lights are out and NOTHING is moving, it goes hog wild on recording "events"...totally strange.

The other called "test2" works as expected.

Is there some other setting that I need to deal with to make test act like test2?

thanks

ok got this one solved!

It was all in the zone settings...especially the ZONE AREA. I just copied what I had for the working camera and wha-laa.

Good, thanks for reporting. The default zone settings in 1.22.0 can be a bit twitchy.

sure no problem.

Just as an aside, I noted that in the preset for NTSC 320x480 (I think) 5fps it defaults to RGB and I have B/W which would cause my montage window to show a broken image...a quick switch the GREY from RGB gives a great image....FYI

Just a wild guess about the motion detection - at low light, some low quality cameras (the POS Linksys is a good example) give tremendous amounts of pixellation - easily enough to trigger ZM's motion detection.
