Low Frame Rate

Post by -t »

Hey all I am new to Zoneminder and I have a quesiton for ya. I have a trendnet IP 200w camera, it works fine with the built in java web viewer, but I am only getting .89 fps with zoneminder. Is this normal or can I get more fps.

Right now I am getting Status: Record - 0.89 fps

Thanks

If you are grabbing single frames and the camera/network can only support that frame rate then that is probably all you will get, assuming you haven't limited it in ZM itself. It does seem quite low though. If you camera supports a mpjpeg feed then using that should give you better frame rates.

Are you getting that framerate over the wired or wireless interface? If using the wireless, try testing through the wired to determine wether the bottleneck is the camera or the wireless network.

Also, what image size are you using? Quality of the JPEG/stream?

How can I tell if this camera supports mpjpeg?

Thanks

According to the MOTION project wiki, the TRENDnet TV-IP200w is similar to the DLink-900W. You should be able to use the following to configure your camera:

netcam_url http://xx.xx.xx.xx/IMAGE.JPG (for single JPEG images)
netcam_url http://xx.xx.xx.xx/VIDEO.CGI (for streaming MJPEG video)
