axis 207
Quick update:
I had two problems with the 207w, one was the locking up after 36+ hours.
The second was an background crackle on the audio.
After some two months of emailing their support to get a response, I'm told that the audio bug is a fault with the hardware and I should get it replaced from vendor. No reply about the crashing, and I disagree with their diagnosis about the audio as when I first raised the issue they replied and said they'd replicated the fault on their test 207w
So now my position is that it's still a great camera, but has bugs and my opinion of Axis' support has dramatically reduced. The support crew don't appear to have any targets to reply to support queries and aren't managed to ensure the customers are dealt with.
For a premium-price product, that's not very good imo.

I have also a 207w with the same audio problem, and it's a hardware problem. Axis confirmed it to me today that there is a defective serie of this camera with this problem.Flash_ wrote:Quick update:

I called them yesterday (don't waste your time with their email support).
The guy I had didn't know the hardware problem apparently. He told me it could be caused by the ActiveX plugin. But I use the camera on MacOS.
Then he told me he would call me back.
And today, an other guy from Axis phoned me, and told me about the harware problem. They are fixing the problem, and he will contact me Monday with the detailled information for the replacement with a correct camera.
Hope it will help you

Well, I don't know how long it will take to have a replacement.
I received an email today just to confim me that it is a hardware problem and that they are working on fixing the problem asap. Or contact my vendor to exchange it if I can't wait. But no guarantee that I'll get a correct camera. So I'll probably wait.
Well, at least they are working on it.
On an other note, here is a pdf explaining how to configure ftp upload for the events handling instead of the only smtp option
http://www.sawaguna.be/207_FTP_MP4.pdf (provided by Axis support)
Don't know if it is usefull for you guys, but It can always interest someone.
I needed the ftp upload, but didn't find the options in the axis interface. And the only information I found on the Axis FAQ is that the 207 has some built-in applications but not FTP upload.

ok, some news.
I contacted Axis today.
It's Axis france, but it should be the same for Europe I think.
They should receive the new fixed serie next week. Probably Monday or Tuesday.
They will proceed to some tests to be sure that the new 207(w) are correct then ship them.
Apparently they will contact directly (phone or mail) people who need a fixed camera, to proceed with the exchange.
It could be a good idea to phone them, to be sure that you are on their contact list of people who have problems with this camera.

Hi
don't know if it still interests anyone, but here is some news :
I got my RMA number on 06/14 and send my camera the following day.
Today I got a call from Axis informing me that they will ship the fixed camera thursday or friday.
Should finally get a functionnal unit soon
They got apparently more returns than expected and got delayed.

yes I am!don't know if it still interests anyone, .
I am looking at buying a 207w ... that is until I read all this
So if I order one today - will I get a decent camera? Of course as things go - I need this yesterday and must place the order quickly in order to get this within in my short timeframe... so if you have an opinion share your 5c *please*...
Hard to say for me. Axis' support hasn't been that good for me, so the only thing I can recommend is that you get it from a place that you can return asap if it does turn out to be faulty. (Old stock etc)
Trouble is there's nothing else comparable on the market that I've found. The lack of choice for quality IP cams is frustrating sometimes.
