I used zoneminder for 1st day and worked great although generated too many events that should have been
single events. I tweaked with pre-event and post-event and ended up with pre-10 and post-30. The thing I notice now thats strange is during an event when something is being captured a small amount of the bottom of snapshots come up missing but sometimes is restored on the last few frames. This problem only happens on events recorded and not on the live feeds. Is something getting taxed and I need to change my settings. I have adjusted the 2 cameras on the system to max 10fps with no luck of removing this..
oh and another question...
I have 512megs of ram and wondering if anyone knows how to increase the shared memory on mandrake 9.2
so I can increase my buffer size to beef up performance (I hope). I would like to increase my resolution
but cant with current limits (using 320x240) and amount of images for those long events.
Thanks greg
bottom of snapshots missing
Re: bottom of snapshots missing
I switched jpeg quality back to 70 and problem went away.
IF anyone can help how to increase shared memory on mandrake 9.2 would be great! since I would
like to increase quality of images.

Follow the FAQ here:
http://www.zoneminder.com/index.php?id= ... faq_faq=10
I have SuSe and it was almost the same. Commands should be exactly the same as in the FAQ.

Re: bottom of snapshots missing
well your advice worked! I followed a simular instructions I found on a linux website but I was missing the "=" in the arguments to send to the kernel. so my settings never went into effect. I know have 640 x 480 resolution and what an improvement even though it slows down the webserver response. The only thing is when I set jpeg to 100 quality I started missing bottom of pictures again (even worse). So I have put that back to 70 and just enjoying the resolution quality I'm getting now. I have allocated 192 Meg for sharing. Any tips for optimizing
system performance? I am running a celeron 2gig with 7200rpm 40gig drive and 333 memory but will be switching memory with 400mhz style.
Thanks greg
