There is an issue with newer versions of mysql using a different password encryption method. I don't know if this thread might help at all?

The thread didn't help me out much

I'm going to get a new box and do a clean Fedora Core 5 install on it along with a clean Ubuntu install and check out ZM on both. Then I'll tell the results...
