ZM 1.22.2 corrupt JPEG data:, no events, mighty pissed off

Post by bainssu »

Hi,

Unfortunately someone pinched stuff from my car whilst the cameras were running and I have no events fired ... nothing at all ... real bummer..!!!!

I recently updated zoneminder to 1.22.2, I have 3 ip cameras ip Kamera 9060 SL from (www.aviosys.com) that were working fine with a hacked perl script that I had put together. However with 1.22.2 I get no events being fired even though the event window shows alarm states etc I have 1 of the cams set to mocord and the other 2 set to modect.

I have attached below a copy of some of the log files. any clues would be very helpful..

Hi Surj,

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm not sure I'm quite sure about what works on your system and what doesn't. You mentioned that the states were working but were you able to view streams?

Hi,

I can see alarm events being fired in the view window but no event is written out.

regards

I've just archived all of the events

deleted the events folders
dropped the database

recreated the database
recreated the monitors and I'm getting events ...

just a shame it wasn't working when I most needed it..!

Maybe we could learn from this and have some sort of general fault that we could either send or setof a local buzzer alarm if for any reasson things are not perfect?

That's a good idea, or to email the admin when a camara is down or not saving events for a period of time?

I use nagios for monitoring the cams to see whether they're still there, but occasionally one will hang and respond to pings, yet not provide a feed - or zm is unable to find the feed and blackscreens it.

I have just done a big implementation of nagios (bit of a learning curve there :? ) and am looking to see if there are any custom plugins that could be created to check for image capture and events etc. Along with cpu, disk and http etc this would help to alert of any kind of issue.

Yes please Phil. I currently use nagios to check things but only http alive really

**edit
I know ive mentioned it in passing before, but if we have a local plugin for nagios that check various things could we also turn on the mobo buzzer under a fault condition. People tend to notice a damn thing buzzing and let you know. Not becuase its its warning them of something they just tell you cos its p!ssing them off!!

I'm not familiar with Nagios, but something I've thought of several times in the past few months is to create a script that would temporarily suspend ZM at a set time, run check table commands on all the tables, and then restart ZM. It would detect database corruption and if found, an e-mail could be sent to the admin to alert them. (Every time I've had a problem with events not recording, it's turned out to be database corruption.)

I also thought that a flag could be added that, if corruption is detected, would automatically run repair table commands on the corrupted tables.
