Firefox issue using LiveCD 1.22.2.1?

Post by no2u »

I'm having troubles with the Firefox browser on LiveCD 1.22.2.1. It works fine for Zoneminder and for visiting the ZM Forum. However, If I visit a website with a bunch of graphics, such as http://www.target.com, I can no longer open any other web pages afterwards (not even "ZM Console" on localhost), even if I open up another copy of Firefox in a different "Workspace". If I close all Firefox sessions and restart Firefox then it works fine again, until I hit another web page like that. This is a fresh install from the 1.22.2.1 LiveCD, on an Athlon 64, Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G (NF430-based) motherboard, cable-modem. Is anyone else having similar problems?

Any hints for a newbie on how to update Firefox to version 1.5? ("Check for updates" now within Firefox says none are available, and if I download from Mozilla web site all I get is a zipped source tree. :-) I'll keep fiddling... Thanks!

You can find Firefox 1.5 RPMs for mandriva here:

You might also try using konqueror for browsing. I have switched myself for everyday use and find it much less resource hungry. mjpeg streaming doesn't work but you can try mpeg streaming in zm and may find you it serves your needs well. Try comparing the load on the system using top with mjpeg and mpeg streaming.
