WURFL

Post by PhGreen »

Hello,
Can anyone help with setting up WURFL with ZoneMinder?
I have installed the PHP and XML files as per the documentation, but get an error of '.../data/wurfl.xml not found' when I try to view the console.

I am using ZM version 1.22.2 installed from the Mandrake 10.1 LiveCD.

Thank you in advance for your help.

From a quick google, WURFL is a way of tracking wireless devices? Sorry, don't have personal experience of it.

Could you explain how you're trying to connect this with Zoneminder? Surely this would be handled by linux and to ZM, would appear as a network/ip camera?

Hello,

The WURFL project identifies a phone's browser's capabilities to help with the viewing the ZM console from the phone. It's documented in the documentation under 'Mobile Devices' and sounds simple enough, but I could do with some kind of 'idiot's guide' if anyone can help!

Cheers.

I have just managed to get this working (almost) with a bit of configuration of the WURFL module. The data directory alias (in WURFL_CONFIG) needs changing to point to wherever the XML file is and there are a few other variables that need defining there too. Also, I had to disable multicaching, as that didn't seem to work. In a small user environment, I don't think this should effect performance.

The only problem I have now is that it doesn't seem to work on my Sony Ericcsson W800i - I get the login prompt, but there is no submit button. On a Nokia phone, things are better, allowing the main console view, but attempting any of the links gives me an invalid web address.
