runing Zoneminder Live cd on VMware

Post by linuxnewbie »

hi im new to linux,

ive tried running the ZM live Cd on vmware with no sucess, i seem to be getting various problems the most common is that once the live CD is installed and i restart VMware it simply will not boot. the most recent problem is when i try to make a partition on the drive using drivedrake it says no hard drive is dectected.

i have no installed SUSE 10.1 but i am completely lost.

can anyone give me some step by step help/guide on how to sucessfully get Zm wrking on SUSE 10.1? im completely new to linux so any help is much apperciated.

:D

Well, make sure you get some tutorials on suse telling you how to set up apache + php + mysql. if you got these installed, then click on "Documentation" right above this forum.

thanx for your reply, i got various tutorials on apache/mysql having problems installing phpmyadmin when i try to save the folder in the "srv" directory it says i cant copy the folder as i have no permissions, i know this may be a very trival problem but this is my 1st time using linux, i logged in as root but cant seem to set the permissions.

giving up on that. livecd seems the easier option..

these are the probz im getting with the livecd...

im running it on VMware (virtual PC) at the 1st attempt i managed to get it installed but when i rebooted the screen got stuck on a Blank screen. so i formatted and tried again the lastest error i get is that drivedrake could not create a partition as there is no Hard drive detected.

i set the partition for the livecd to 20gig (on VMware) Ram to about 512mb. maybe ive missed an obvious step has anyone tested the LIVECD on VMware?

any help would be appericated

when building you rvirtual machine dont use the scsi driver use the ide (says not recommended) driver or use a dedicated hard disk

The Slax based LML LiveCD ( http://linuxmedialabs.com/ISO/livelmlR01.iso ) runs fine under vmware 5, in fact it was used a lot while developing it.
