Trying to get TrendNet TV-IP201 Camera working

Post by scottw »

Hi all,

I too am trying to get a TrendNet TV-IP201 working. I've seen some mention of these in the forums, but no definitive answers.

I've already tried http://x.x.x.x/VIDEO.CGI and http://x.x.x.x/IMAGE.JGP with no luck.

Does anyone have this model running?

Thanks.

I've been using a TV-IP200 for a few months without trouble. Perhaps they mangled the URLs on the newer IP201. Unfortunately the machine is inaccessible at the moment, but I'll verify the URL I'm using later this evening.

Are you at least able to get molasses frame rates by fetching the static image.jpg?

Whoops, I see from this thread:
http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6674
That things have indeed changed up for the IP201. So I probably can't be of much help. Sorry,

Hi All,

Thanks for your offers of help.

The TV-IP201 has a built in web server (perhaps not unlike the IP200??) which uses an Active-X control to connect to the camera. I used a TCP/IP sniffing program to see what access the Active-X control tried to obtain. There are a number of strange URLs that get called from the control to set and get session ids, set up parameters, etc.

I was able to get still captures working by using the URL path /goform/capture. So it's kinda working for me now.

Is it not possible with a camera that does m-jpeg to grab a stream?

Anyone know?

thanks,

if you know the mjpeg path then yes, zm will capture it but it needs to be correctly formatted, i know the sony has a slightly different way of doing things and there is a patch for that, maybe trendnet dont follow the standard fully either

I have a IP201W, and I can see a still image in a browser using the URL http://192.168.X.X/goform/capture however in Zoneminder monitor for that camera the image appears empty using /goform/capture as the path.

If I right-click that empty image in Firefox and say View Image, I see:

Server: ZoneMinder Video Server/1.22.3
Expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT

Cache-Control: post-check=0, pre-check=0
Pragma: no-cache

Can anyone suggest something for me to try, or what to look for in a log?

did you try to download source code of you camera software from trendnet and look at it?
if common sense is so uncommon, why is it called common then?

Try this url when accessing IP201, and IP201W cameras. This also works for almost all of Trendnets newer cameras.

http://192.168.x.x/goform/capture/video.cgi
