Ubuntu, Grandtec 4 port, + greyfox cat5 cameras

Post by malaxi »

Just thought I'd record for posterity that that the Greyfox camera
system (video and power over cat5 cables) works great with
Zoneminder.

Software:
  • Ubuntu 6.06.01 LTS (standard server install)
    Zoneminder 1.22.2
Hardware:
  • Grandtec 4-port (one bt878, 4 "channels")
    Greyfox color bullet cams
Greyfox camera module (converts from cat5 to RCA)
Didn't do anything special. Grandtec card was automatically detected
and /dev/video was created. I've got 2 cameras up, works great.
There is some combing in the stills at 640x480, but I guess that's to
be expected with the bt878.

I'm liking the Greyfox stuff alot, especially since I pre-wired ethernet but not video cables....
