LiveCD and SATA problems

Post by jdblank »

I have seen several posts regarding issues with SATA drives and LiveCD. I think I am having an issue. The CD boots fine but when I want to install to disks I can't set partitions because it does not see the disks.

I have a brand new Dell 9150. If anyone has any advice on how to fix this I would greatly apprecaite it.

I'm sorry to hear that SATA is not working with the new livecd. I dont have any SATA hardware, so am not able to test or trouble shoot.

Donations of hardware are always welcome and pretty much guarantee that said hardware will be supported by ZMliveCD :)

Hi, what would you need to troubleshoot? A SATA drive?

A workaround would be to boot from a kernel which supports sata drives/drivers(!) and to install ZM from the live-cd.

A machine that supports SATA drives.

I'm reasonably certain that all the required kernel modules are included. I'm using a kernel rebuilt from the PClinuxOS distrib. You might try booting PClinuxOS on your hardware and see if it works. I suspect updated hardware detection and config scripts are needed.

Any news ?

I'm having trouble with this .. btw it's a SIS chipset :P but should work, because it works on the same board using an IDE drive.

All seems to be detected but it says after detecting the hardware: Error on SCSI w700 :/

btw i can mount the hd as a scsi drive and even partition etc on fdisk at /dev/sda

What can i do ?

motherboard is a p4m800

Are you using the latest CD? (bittorrent only so far)
I'm hoping to hear a report on the new (2007.0) version with SATA as I still have no hardware to test with. So please anyone who is a position to test please post your experience.
