mac os x

Post by fabiolecca »

hi,

I would really like to see ZoneMinder running on MacOS X because the hardware is so nice .. and especially the mac mini would be a great machine for video recording... so after some work I succeeded in compiling version 1.22.2 and running the software. There are still some problems but the site is working (also because MacOS includes apache and php on every installation).
It would be possible to merge the code changes to produce a release which is also compatible with mac!!!? I'd like to contact the programmers in order to do so...!!

thank you,
Fabio

If you let me know what you have done I can merge it in, provided it's nothing too radical!

mac osx modifications

Post by fabiolecca »

the modifications are really a few, the Tiger operating system already includes perl, apache and many other prerequisites.
What must be done is some minor modifications to C++ code and perl scripts (as an example, the Mac does not have killall -quiet)
I can provide an installation procedure from source code for the operating system or a complete binary package for the Mac.
What I'd like to ask you is if you have a more recent version to test or if you want me to give you the list of modifications with respect to version 1.22.2? if you want you can answer via mail or privately.

wrt to 1.22.2 is fine, as I can merge in your changes on a branch and then merge again into the current trunk.

I can add them to the source tree inside #if <MAC> conditionals if necessary.

As much as I like ZM, you should probably be aware of EvoCam for OS/X. It's inexpensive and is super easy to set up on OS/X. I use it on old iMacs with DLink and Panasonic IP cameras.
